Delta Air Lines
Policies verified March 2026
Delta is a consistently family-friendly US carrier with practical policies across the board. Gate check is free and hassle-free, car seats are accepted with flexible seating, and the airline guarantees children 13 and under sit next to an accompanying adult. A unique perk: if there is an empty seat next to you, Delta will let you use it for your car seat at no charge. One of the easier airlines to fly with kids in the US.

Can I bring a stroller on Delta Air Lines?
Delta is solid for stroller travel. Small collapsible pushchairs that fit carry-on dimensions can come in the cabin. Gate check is free at curbside, counter, or gate, and strollers are not counted against your standard baggage allowance. The policy is straightforward and hassle-free, making Delta one of the easier US airlines to fly with a pram.
Can I use a car seat on Delta Air Lines?
Delta requires FAA-approved car seats and prefers window placement with an adult seated adjacent. Both forward and rear-facing are accepted. A nice perk: if you do not purchase a seat but there is an empty one next to you at door close, Delta will let you use it for your car seat. Not available in Delta One lie-flat seats.
Does Delta Air Lines allow toddler airplane beds?
Delta explicitly prohibits inflatable sleep devices on all flights. Inflatable wedges, beds, cubes, infant hammocks, personal pods, and tents are all banned. Only FAA-approved child safety seats and the CARES harness are permitted for in-flight use. If a toddler sleep device is important for your trip, check the table below for carriers that allow them.
