Policies verified March 2026

Jetstar is the Qantas Group budget carrier, serving domestic Australia, New Zealand, and short-haul Asia routes. For a low-cost airline, the baby gear policy is surprisingly good: two items fly free and compact strollers can go in the cabin. The trade-off is no bassinets, minimal food options for kids, and a strict ban on all inflatable sleep devices.

Jetstar Baby Gear Policies

Can I bring a stroller on Jetstar?

Conditions
Carry-on if under 56x36x23 cm
Gate check: Free

Jetstar is surprisingly generous with baby gear for a budget carrier. Compact strollers that fit standard cabin baggage dimensions (56x36x23 cm) can come onboard. Everything else, including prams, portable cots, highchairs, and car seats, is checked free with no oversized fee. That is a better deal than many full-service airlines offer.

Can I use a car seat on Jetstar?

Conditions
Allowed
Any (FAA, EASA, etc.) certified.

Jetstar allows car seats onboard but makes you jump through hoops. Window seats only, no exit rows, and you need to call ahead since availability is limited per flight. They accept most major standards (AS1754, FAA, ECE44) but ban booster seats and generally do not approve rear-facing. Not available on Jetstar Japan routes.

Does Jetstar allow toddler airplane beds?

Banned
Not allowed

Jetstar bans all inflatable sleep devices. Plane Pal, Fly Tot, JetKids BedBox, and FlyLegs Up are all prohibited. If you are flying Jetstar with a toddler and hoping to use a leg rest or inflatable bed, you will need to leave it in your luggage. Check the table below for airlines that are more accommodating.

Jetstar is a budget carrier, so set your expectations accordingly. You will not get free food, entertainment, or baby supplies. But the infant fee is low, checked gear is generous at two free items, and the crew are generally helpful. Pack everything you need and you will be fine.
