Getting through the airport
The KeyFit 35 carrier weighs 4.5 kg, which is average for an infant seat. It clicks into Chicco strollers for easy airport navigation. The extended 4.5 kg limit gives you a few extra months of use compared to the KeyFit 30, which matters if your baby is on the bigger side and you have trips planned. The carrier handle locks in multiple positions for comfortable carrying.
Using it on board
At 41.9 cm wide, the KeyFit 35 fits standard economy seats without trouble. It installs rear-facing using the aircraft lap belt through the belt path, no base needed. The installation is the same straightforward process Chicco is known for. If you have used a KeyFit 30 before, this is identical. Flight attendants rarely question it since the FAA approval label is prominently placed.
Good to know
The KeyFit 35 is essentially a KeyFit 30 with a higher weight limit and updated fabrics. If your baby is under 4.5 kg, there is no functional difference in flight. The main reason to choose the 35 over the 30 is if your child is approaching that 30 lb limit and you want more runway. Chicco sells these on Amazon and everywhere else, so replacement parts and accessories are easy to find on the road.
