Traveling with the Evenflo Sonus 65
Getting through the airport
At 4.99 kg (4.99 kg), the Sonus 65 is light for a convertible seat but heavier than the ultra-portable Cosco options. It is compact enough to carry through the terminal or place in a travel bag. The seat does not fold flat, so it takes up some space but remains manageable. Some parents use a car seat travel cart to make the airport walk easier.
Using it on board
The Sonus 65 is 45.7 cm wide, which is wider than ideal for airplane seats. It will fit most standard economy seats but expect a tight squeeze, especially on narrower aircraft. It installs both rear-facing and forward-facing with the aircraft seat belt. Forward-facing tends to be the easier installation on planes. The belt path is accessible, though the wider shell can make it tricky to tighten the belt in a tight seat.
Good to know
FAA-certified but wider at 45.7 cm than most travel-focused seats. If you already own the Sonus 65, it works fine for occasional flights, but dedicated travelers may prefer a narrower option like the Cosco Scenera.
