Stokke JetKids BedBox: Airline Approval
The JetKids BedBox is a ride-on suitcase that converts into a leg rest on the plane. Kids love riding it through the airport, and the bed extension gives them a flat surface to sleep on. At 3.3 kg it is the heaviest option, but it does double duty as luggage and a sleep solution.

Packing and setup
At 3.3 kg and 46x20x36 cm, the BedBox is the heaviest device in this category by a wide margin. It is a proper ride-on suitcase first, with the bed function built into the lid. Kids ride it through the airport (which parents love), and onboard the mattress folds out to extend the seat into a leg rest. There is limited packing space inside when the mattress is stored, so plan accordingly.
Using it in flight
The bed surface works well for children aged 3 to 7, though older kids use it more as a leg rest than a flat bed. Parents consistently praise the airport experience: kids ride instead of walking, which reduces meltdowns at the gate. In flight, the mattress creates a usable but not perfectly flat surface. The BedBox is restricted to window seats or center-row middle seats on most airlines, so you cannot place two side by side.
Good to know
Airline restrictions are the biggest caveat. Emirates, British Airways, Qantas, Air France, Qatar, and Lufthansa all ban the bed function. Budget airlines may charge extra since the dimensions exceed some hand luggage limits. It is a significant investment, but the dual airport-and-flight functionality justifies it for frequent flyers. The build quality is excellent and it lasts through multiple children, which helps offset the price.
