Maxi-Cosi Lara2: Airline Compatibility

6.4 kg 51 x 50 x 26 cm Compact

The Lara2 folds flat and compact with a shoulder strap for hands-free carrying. At 6.4 kg, it is light enough to manage with a toddler on your hip. The wider fold means overhead bins are hit-or-miss, but the carrying convenience makes up for it.

Traveling with the Maxi-Cosi Lara2

At the airport

The Maxi-Cosi Lara2 folds down to 51x50x26 cm and weighs 6.4 kg, making it a solid middle-ground travel stroller. Its automatic fold mechanism is a standout feature: pull one strap and it collapses quickly. Parents particularly like that it self-stands when folded, so you can park it upright while loading bags onto the X-ray belt. The shoulder carry strap makes hands-free carrying through the terminal practical.

On the plane

At 26 cm deep when folded, the Lara2 is slim enough that some parents have managed to fit it in larger overhead bins on wide-body aircraft. On most domestic flights with standard bins, you will still need to gate check it. The self-standing fold and carry strap make the gate check handoff smooth and quick. It comes through gate checking well due to its solid build quality.

Good to know

The Lara2 improves on the original Lara with a better recline and upgraded canopy. At 6.5kg it sits in the sweet spot between ultralight strollers that sacrifice comfort and heavier models that are a burden to carry. The seat is suitable from about 6 months, so you will need a car seat solution for younger babies. Compared to the Cybex Libelle, the Lara2 is slightly heavier but offers a more padded, comfortable seat for longer outings.
