The fold is long (107 cm) so it will not fit in overhead bins, but the carry strap makes gate checking easy. Traveling with the Summer Infant 3Dlite
At the airport
The 3Dlite is a classic umbrella stroller at 5.9 kg with a long, thin fold (107.4x30.5x24.1 cm). It will not fit in any overhead bin, but the built-in carry strap makes it easy to gate check. Getting through security is straightforward since it folds quickly with one hand. The storage basket underneath is surprisingly large for a budget stroller.
On the plane
You are gate checking this one, full stop. The umbrella fold is too long for overhead bins on every airline. The upside is that it is cheap enough that you will not lose sleep if it gets banged up in the cargo hold. Some parents buy it specifically as a beater stroller for flights, keeping their nicer stroller at home.
Good to know
The 3Dlite has been a best-seller for years because it hits the sweet spot of cheap, light, and functional. The four-position recline is decent for naps, the canopy provides reasonable sun coverage, and the aluminum frame holds up better than you would expect at this price point. It is not fancy, but it is the stroller equivalent of a reliable rental car. At under $100, it is basically disposable if an airline destroys it.
